Meeting on plans for hunt kennels

Thursday 17th July 2008, 11:50AM BST.

Angry villagers living near the proposed site of new hunting kennels to house up to 80 dogs in north Shropshire are expected to turn out in force at a meeting tonight.

People from Whixall will attend the public meeting to discuss plans for the kennels, for the North Shropshire Hunt, to be sited in the village on Greenfields, Ossage Lane.

The plans have been resubmitted after permission was refused earlier this year because the Hunt did not supply enough information on time.

Tonight’s meeting has been called by Wem Rural Parish Council and Whixall Parish Council.

Pat Hutchinson, from Whixall, said villagers were concerned about noise, drainage and traffic issues. About 20 people lobbied a meeting of Wem Rural Parish Council earlier this year, when the council gave its approval to the Hunt’s original planning application.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm at Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem.
