Moxey calls on fans to back Wolves

moxey.jpgChief executive Jez Moxey today urged fans to buy into a ‘new Wolves vision’ of entertaining football as he urged fans to snap up seats for the new campaign.

Moxey revealed season ticket sales were around 1,300 down the same time last year, and believes Wolves supporters should tap into the vibrancy of the squad determined to challenge for promotion.

“We’ve sold 14,700 so far which is about 1,300 down on where we were this time last year, based on selling days,” said Moxey.

“But it’s a reflection on the same number we were down on those that didn’t renew on the Early Bird.

“Last year people were renewing based on the fact we had finished in the play-offs. We want to keep the expectations in check, but we can’t wait for the first game of the season.”

Moxey is aware some fans were critical of the quality of football at Molineux last season and believes the players will ‘up’ the entertainment levels.

“We have a young squad that’s so enthusiastic and hopefully we can produce exciting football,” he said.

“We want to entertain our fans and if we do that, the players will enjoy playing and the fans will enjoy watching and hopefully, if that happens, then hopefully success will follow.

“Everyone from the administration staff to the players, fans, manager and media is hoping for a really positive season on all fronts.

“And with Steve Morgan trying to support us with our recruitment aims, there are many reasons to be optimistic.”

Moxey added: “I’m not sure fans have picked up on the enthusiasm there is within Molineux.

“But there is a really big buzz in Molineux about the forthcoming season and that has manifested itself within the squad.

“We are having to almost remind the players to keep a lid on their expectations and excitment for the new season. We think we have signed three excellent players in Sam Vokes, Richard Stearman and David Jones.”
