£40,000 yearly bill for Shifnal

Tuesday 8th July 2008, 12:16PM BST.

£40,000 – that was the cost of running Shifnal Town in the Midland Alliance last season, writes James Garrison.

And club supremo Ron Dean has issued a stark warning over the club’s survival prospects should assistance from local businesses not be forthcoming.

“The plans to allow the club to be self funding and not have to rely on yearly requests are under way,” said chairman Dean.

“But, for the foreseeable future, we will not be able to continue without your help.”

As a result, Shifnal have launched a ’40 club’ – a search to find 40 individual sponsors willing to donate £1,000 each year to become match sponsors.

They will also be entered into a draw with a chance of becoming the first team kit sponsors.

Anybody interested in joining the ’40 club’ should contact Dean on 01952 460044.
