A mountain of money trouble

Monday 7th July 2008, 9:00AM BST.

Money is making the headlines in this week’s Shropshire Star podcast by Assistant Editor Carl Jones…from M&S’s shaky profits to the Telford teen who thought he was a millionaire for a day.

Chief reporter Peter Johnson takes up the story of William Bowen who went on a spending spree when the hole in the wall machine told him he had £2 MILLION in his account.

A couple of court cases catch the eye in the upcoming week, including one county man who is being taken to task over a car he sold on eBay, while a Shropshire poultry firm blamed for fly infestations nearby is in court too.

Carl looks forward to the latest summer events this week, with Llangollen Eisteddfod kicking off on Tuesday, while sports writer Chris Hudson previews a Twenty-20 tournament which will bring a host of cricket’s biggest names from the past and present to the county (and there are still tickets for sale!).

Finally, they’re known as the “sandwich generation” – caught between their children and their elderly parents – and this week the Shropshire Star has a special supplement about and for the over-50s.
