Concert finale for town festival

Saturday 5th July 2008, 11:50AM BST.

The two-week Ludlow Festival will draw to a close tomorrow with a sell-out pop concert and grand firework display.

Festival chairman Jenny Vaughan said organisers were delighted with how this year’s festival had gone.

She said: “We now have a waiting list in case any tickets become available.

“Financially we won’t know how well we have done until the books have been balanced in September but I’m optimistic.”

Mrs Vaughan said ticket sales had been healthy through the festival which traditionally brings about £1million into the local economy.

“Richard III sold well and we had reviews in many of the nationals as well as local papers and all were good.”

The concert features artists such as Chris Farlow, Mike Pender and Brian Poole plus The Manfreds. The event, at Ludlow Castle, starts from 6.30pm and the fireworks will be over by 11pm.
