Raider fled pub with cash from bar
Friday 4th July 2008, 12:16AM BST.
Police are hunting a thief who broke into a Bridgnorth pub after closing time and stole cash.
The culprit was disturbed in the act and fled the scene.
Police believe a number of witness would have seen the man running away from the pub.
The incident happened between about 3.15pm and 3.20pm on Tuesday at The Bear Inn, Northgate.
A white male gained entry to the pub, which had been locked up after it was closed, and stole money from the bar area.
He was disturbed and jumped over the bar, before making off through the front door and up Northgate and Moat Street.
Constable Timothy Street, of Bridgnorth police, today appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
He said: “The town was busy at the time and a lot of people would have seen this man running down the road.
“It is possible he may have then driven away in a light-coloured, small hatchback car similar to a Ford Fiesta or Citroen Saxo.
“We are examining CCTV footage from the area and would appeal to anyone who witnessed someone running through the town or otherwise acting suspiciously at the time to contact me on 08457 444888.”
The offender is described as white and was wearing a light-coloured top and possibly a baseball cap.
