Schemes bringing 35 jobs to county
Thursday 3rd July 2008, 11:00AM BST.
Up to 35 new jobs could be created in Shropshire under separate plans to transform two vacant sites.
The former Wincanton Logistics warehouse in Featherbed Lane, Shrewsbury, could be set for 20 new jobs under a scheme to create a new workshop and commercial building consisting of eight units.
While the £100,000 revamp of a Telford pub will create 15 new jobs when refurbishment work ends, investors revealed today.
Bosses at Shropshire-based G&T Leisure Limited say the relaunch of The Woodcutter, in Hollinswood, will create a mix of five full-time and 10 part-time jobs.
The former supermarket distribution centre in Shrewsbury has been undergoing a number of changes in recent months with a new BMW car dealership already set to take up occupation shortly.
And owners Furrows Holdings Ltd have submitted plans which could create a number of jobs at the site.
It comes three years after 54 staff lost their jobs when the site closed because a deal with supermarket giant Safeway was not renewed when the chain was taken over by Morrisons.
Bill Cooper, managing director of Furrows Holdings Ltd, said the plans were the last phase of the development which has helped to rejuvenate the empty site.
Graham Andrews, managing director of G&T Leisure, said his company is aiming to update the interior of The Woodcutter, to a modern community pub.
