Historic venue to stage open-air epics
Tuesday 1st July 2008, 12:30PM BST.

The historic grounds of Hawkstone Park near Shrewsbury will once again play host to two magnificent open-air theatre productions in July and August, as part of their Summer Season.
Popular touring theatre company Heartbreak Productions will take to the stage on July 19 as they enthral audiences with a spellbinding performance of one of Shakespeare’s most compelling histories.
Henry V follows the life of King Henry’s reign at the time of the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years’ War. Shakespeare’s interpretation of his character evokes a wild and colourful prince who, by the time of his reign and attempted conquest of France, had become an heroic king.
The play starts at 7.30pm and gates are open from 4pm. Guests are invited to bring their own picnic, low-backed seating, rugs and umbrellas.
There will also be a bar and barbeque serving up locally-sourced produce. Tickets are priced £12 adults and £8 concessions.
Then on August 2 and 3, the Chapterhouse Theatre Company make a welcome return to Hawkstone for a wonderful family production of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
Audiences are invited to join a company of travelling players in this fantastical world of medieval knights, as they tell the heroic deeds of King Arthur from his humble beginnings to the creation of Camelot.
The park and follies will be transformed into a magical medieval village, with re-enactments, costumed characters, a medieval barbeque and even a bar serving up unusual period wares such as seaweed lager!
All open air performances will take place in the park’s stunning landscaped gardens.
For tickets call the box office on (01948) 841700, or visit www.hawkstonepark.co.uk for more information about the venue and other activities.
