Robber in taxi knife threat
Thursday 26th June 2008, 11:50AM BST.
A Telford taxi driver was threatened with a kitchen knife by a man who demanded cash.
The 38-year-old driver was in Spout Way, Malinslee, when a man got into the taxi, and pulled out the knife yesterday, at 8.50pm.
The would-be robber demanded cash, but fled from the car empty handed when the driver refused to hand anything over.
Telford police spokesman Chris Ammond said: “As the victim, a 38-year-old taxi driver, was waiting for a fare in Spout Way, an unknown male approached his vehicle, opened the passenger door and sat in the passenger seat.
“The male then produced a kitchen knife, threatened the victim and demanded money from him.
“The victim did not react to the demands and the male quickly got back out of the taxi and made off from the scene.”
The offender is white with a tanned appearance, in his early 20s, about 5ft 6in and was wearing a long sleeved, dark-coloured hooded top.
