Always look on the bright side

Never mind the credit crunch doom and gloom – Assistant Editor Carl Jones is looking on the bright side in this week’s ‘Sunday Supplement’ podcast.

“Let’s be positive,” says Carl as he looks at good news stories from the week just gone and the week ahead.The Star’s Sally Evans certainly sounds enthusiastic as she looks aback at the inaugural Pride of Shropshire awards, describing them as “one of the most fantastic events which I’ve had the privilege of being involved with”.

There’s also an eight-page holiday supplement in the the Shropshire Star next week, promising sunny smiles all round.Sports writer James Garrison keeps his fingers crossed as he gives his take on the new Shrewsbury Town fixture list, including the opening game against Macclesfield.

The Shrews, and arch rivals AFC Telford United will be keeping their fingers crossed for next Friday, when they are among the finalists in the 2008 Shropshire Business Awards.

There will be full coverage of that in Saturday’s Star along with a school prom season special supplement.

And if that wasn’t enough, features writer Ben Bentley will be mapping out just how much our county has changed over the past century.
