Wolves rival Stoke for Jones

A fee of £1m had been agreed for the 23-year-old, only for the deal to fall through. Jones failed to agree personal terms, according to Rams boss Paul Jewell.

But Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey is confident an agreement can be struck and is hopeful the club can complete a deal soon.

Derby chairman of football Adam Pearson said: “I think David has got one or two irons in the fire.

“He has got to decide where he wants to play his football and what package he wants to play under.

“We agreed a fee with Wolves but it’s the player’s prerogative where he wants to play and we completely respect that.”
