Winger Done joins Hereford
Wednesday 18th June 2008, 11:49AM BST.
Explosive winger Matty Done has turned his back on the chance to help Wrexham return to the Football League by signing a contract with Hereford.
The Oswestry-born midfielder was out of contract this summer and has moved to the club that tried to capture his signature during the January transfer window and went on to win promotion to League One.
Done struggled to get into the Wrexham side after Brian Little was brought in to stop the rot last season, but by the end of the campaign the teenager had forced his way back into the manager’s plans.
It was too late, however, to make a difference as Wrexham slumped out of the Football League.
In stark contrast the Bulls were the surprise package last season and clinched the third automatic promotion place in League Two.
As Done is only 19-years-old Wrexham will receive fee for the move, the details of which have not been disclosed.
He is one of a number of exciting young players to emerge from Wrexham’s Centre of Excellence in recent years, and played 72 games for the Dragons, scoring on two occasions.
A spokesman for Wrexham FC said: “Everyone at The Racecourse would like to wish him well for the future and success at Edgar Street with his new club.”
