Prince Harry in message to charity

Monday 16th June 2008, 12:41PM BST.

Prince HarryPrince Harry has sent good luck wishes to organisers of a Shropshire event which will, it is hoped, raise £50,000 for wounded servicemen.

The prince was invited to next month’s summer ball at the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford, which will boost funds for national charity Help for Heroes.

He had to decline as he has another engagement, but he sent a special message to organisers wishing them every success.

Help for Heroes Staffordshire and Shropshire county co-ordinator, Jeremy Hobbs, said he was delighted that the prince had written.

The letter from Prince Harry’s private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton MVO MBE, reads: “His Royal Highness wishes you all a most enjoyable and successful evening and sends his best wishes for the future.”

The RAF Swing Wing Band will top of the bill and entertain guests as they sip cocktails, before TV’s Stars in their Eyes winner Yvonne Milligan performs, supported by her dancers.
