Pint-sized craft to fill the skies

Aerobatic displays and model car racing will feature at the Wrekin Model Flying Club-organised event, which runs on both Saturday and Sunday at the park on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border.

New for this year will be an airborne race against the clock through a course of obstacles just 150m away from spectators and there will also be a display by the purpose-built aerobatic competition plane – the EXTRA 300S.

There will be a heart-stopping performance by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, low display passes of model turbines and large scale Second World War bombers performing loops and spins high above the crowds. Children will be offered the opportunity to make and fly their own rockets under the guidance of The Rocket School while there will also be car track racing and a funfair.

A host of flying enthusiasts will descend on the park for the weekend and there will be more than 100 stalls where visitors can admire and investigate the aircraft on show, with experienced pilots on hand to answer any questions.

Admission will be £9 for adults, £6 for children over the age of three and a family ticket admitting two adults and two children will cost £25.

Camping at the site will be available from today and pitches can be booked at www.westonparkmodelairshow.co.uk
