Housing proposal for village

Thursday 5th June 2008, 6:59PM BST.

Plans have been put forward to build an affordable housing development in a quiet Shropshire village to try and encourage young people to stay in the area.

The proposals to build seven homes in Station Road, Ditton Priors, have been submitted to Bridgnorth District Council.

The blueprints will be heard by members of the council’s planning comm-ittee in a couple of weeks.

The plans include two two-bedroomed bungalows, one two-bedroomed house and two two-bedroomed houses, all of which will be available for rent. There will also be one two-bedroomed house and one three-bedroomed house which will be available for shared ownership.

The plans are expected to be given the go-ahead after a recent report found there to be an urgent need for affordable housing in the area.

The report revealed there is a lack of housing for youngsters looking to get a foot on the property ladder.
