Postcard picture at journey’s end
Tuesday 3rd June 2008, 6:59PM BST.
Here is Upper Bar and High Street, Newport, as seen in a postcard franked on October 3, 1910.
The message on the back read something like: “Newport, I.H. (? – this part is difficult to read) At last I have arrived at my journey’s end. 12.0 I called a Beals (?) at Gnosall.
“It is hot work and a heavy road. Love T.G.P.”
It was posted to Miss H Andrews, Nursing Institution, Lichfield Road, Stafford. The postcard itself was published by Cartwrights, Upper Bar Newsagency, Newport.
