Wem USC pulled further clear at the top of the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League on a night of three away wins and two crackingly close games. The Services Boys are a stunning 12 points ahead after their 12-2 triumph at Donnington Wood.

Meole Brace were 25 chalks to the good as they won 9-5 away to former leaders Archibald Worthington, but it was much closer for Ford who had only 11 shots to spare despite eight winners at bottom club Childs Ercall.

But Chester Road went mighty close at St Georges – with just three winners.
