County singers take on X Factor
Saturday 17th May 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Budding singers from Shropshire will be taking their chances in a national TV talent competition this weekend.
Joe Mansfield and Jamie Vaughen, from Shawbury, and Donald Eley, from Market Drayton, will be among thousands auditioning to appear on the X Factor at Aston Villa’s Villa Park ground tomorrow.
Joe and Jamie, both 14, plan to wow judges with their own version of Shine, made famous by Take That, while Donald, 44, will perform Patience or Rule the World by the same band.
If candidates are successful, they will be called back to audition before judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne.
Julie Mansfield, Joe’s mum, said Joe and Jamie, both pupils at Thomas Adams School in Wem, had been busy rehearsing.
Amanda Pollard, Mr Eley’s partner, said he regularly performed karaoke at Tiddler’s bar in Market Drayton.
