Thursday 15th May 2008, 11:49AM BST.
Success at Shifnal Town seems to be contagious. Hot on the heels of the Phoenix Park club winning the Midland Alliance League Cup, the veterans team returned from a tournament in Italy with another trophy.
Managed by Tony Pearce they won the ‘Trofeo Delfinio’ in Rimini with two victories putting the icing on the cake.
They won their semi-final 4-0 against Olympic Marseille vets and the final 3-1 against Trollesport of Italy.
Shifnal also ended up with the golden boot award winner as striker Mark Comerford finished as the tournament’s top scorer with seven goals.
