Bridgnorth in the Senior Cup

Thursday 8th May 2008, 11:49AM BST.

Bridgnorth Town have been confirmed as the new boys in the Shropshire Senior Cup – but face a play-off to earn the chance to take on one of the county’s big two.

The Crown Meadow men will face Shifnal Town on Tuesday, July 22, with the winners going forward to a semi-final with AFC Telford United the following Monday.

Bridgnorth have been added to the mix after winning promotion to the Midland Alliance as champions of the Sport Italia West Midlands League this season.

The other semi-final is a repeat of last year’s final, with Market Drayton Town – who pulled off a shock victory against the Bucks in 2007 – drawn against Shrewsbury in the last four this time around.

The final will be played at Shrewsbury’s Oteley Road on Thursday, July 31 (7.45pm).
