Jail for man in breach of sentence

A 21-year-old Telford man has been jailed for breaching a suspended sentence order on three occasions.
Adam Nicholls, of Steventon Road, Wellington, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.
Mr Christopher O’Gorman, prosecuting, said Nicholls had been given a 12-week suspended sentence in June last year for affray.
At a hearing in November, he admitted burgling Summer House, Hadley, and stealing the landlord’s Mercedes Sprinter van.
He also admitted driving with excess alcohol, without insurance and without a licence on July 7 last year.
He also breached the order in October and failed to attend his unpaid work in January and February.
The suspended sentence was revoked for 10 weeks and Nicholls was jailed for eight months for the burglary, to run consecutively, and four months for taking the car, to run consecutively.
He was also jailed for two months for driving with excess alcohol, to run concurrently, and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Mr Roy Patterson, for Nicholls, said: “It’s a pity he has failed to grasp the chances given him.
“These last blips, if one can call them that, happened at a bad time in his life.”
Passing sentence, Judge Paul Glenn told Nicholls: “You have made frankly no effort.”
