Wolves strikers’ call to the 5,000
Thursday 24th April 2008, 11:49AM BST.
Wolves strikers Andy Keogh and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake today pleaded for a 5,000-strong gold and black army to descend on Coventry on Saturday to roar the team into play-off contention.
Victory for Mick McCarthy’s side at the Ricoh Arena and for Hull at home to sixth-placed Crystal Palace would catapult Wolves into the play-off zone with one match left.
With 5,000 visitors’ seats available for the Midlands derby, Wolves’ in-form duo have urged fans to pack out the away end to be their 12th man.
“The fans are going to be massively important in these next couple of games and we’re going to need all the support we can get,” said Ebanks-Blake.
“Let’s hope it can be a sell-out in the away end and we go on and win the game.
“They’re desperate for us to do well. It’s understandable if they’re tentative, but I just hope they can help push us on and be like a 12th man to help us get to where we really, really want to be.”
Keogh said: “The fans can make a real difference on Saturday if they get behind the team positively. The more fans we can take to Coventry the better. We perform better when there’s a better atmosphere.
“It helps the lads to have that support because we want to get into those play-offs and have a chance to get to the Premiership.
“We’re out there for the club and for them. No-one goes out not wanting to do that, so hopefully everyone will get behind us and keep it going.”
Both strikers believe Wolves’ task is harder because the Sky Blues – three points off the drop – still need points to be safe.
“Every team in this league play with a pride and a passion and Coventry will be no different,” said Ebanks-Blake.
Keogh added: “Coventry is a massive game. They’re not quite safe, so they will be right at it. Maybe it would have been better if Coventry had already been safe.”

Funny how you dont see mick asking for the fans to come, and you dont see him thanking the fans for the support so far this season.
