Ifton snap up bowls superstars
Friday 18th April 2008, 11:50AM BST.
Two of the biggest names in crown green bowls are poised to play in the Furrows Shropshire Premier League – for Ifton.
Noel Burrows, winner of the All England in 1976, and Welsh team captain Roger Morgan have both been signed this week by the St Martins-based club.
Morgan would have made his Ifton debut tonight at home to north Shropshire rivals Wem USC – had it not been for a rugby trip with his son.
Ifton joint captain Steve Robinson confirmed: “They both play with Tim Halliwell and Gerwin Davies for Sale in the Manchester Super League.
“We are not certain about Noel but Roger says he would really like to be involved. He will be coming down to have a look at how the land lies as soon as he can.”
