Former Kitten for charity ball

Pop star Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten fame will make a guest appearance at a Shropshire country club to help raise funds for a charity which saved the owner’s life.
The charity ball, which takes place at Swancote Country Club, near Bridgnorth, on May 17, at 7.30pm, will raise funds for the Air Ambulance and Compton Hospice.
Steven Platt, owner of the club, has raised about £10,000 for the Air Ambulance since it saved his life following a serious accident six years ago.
Mr Platt said he knew Natasha well as he was good friends with her husband, Shifnal Town footballer Riad Erraji, so she would be singing for free at the event.
He said: “I had a serious crash six years ago and the Air Ambulance saved my life, without them I wouldn’t be here today, so I take part in charity events to raise money for them.
“After the accident my spleen had to be removed and my liver had split in half, I only had a five per cent chance of surviving.”
He added: “At the ball we will also have entertainment from the Commandments, who are a good band.
“I’m hoping it will raise at least £5,000. Everyone is welcome to come, tickets cost £35 from Swancote.
