Wayne pledges to stay with Wolves

Wayne HennesseyWayne Hennessey has pledged his future to Wolves – even if they fail to win promotion to the Premier League this season.

The 21-year-old keeper was again watched by Everton in the Black Country derby when Toffees boss David Moyes made a personal check on the Welsh international.

Hennessey didn’t disappoint either as he produced several fine saves, the highlight of which was a superb tipover from Neil Clement’s free kick.

But the player insists he won’t be looking to leave Wolves this summer – even if their play-off challenge fails again.

Asked whether he would consider quitting the club if Wolves don’t go up this time, he said: “I won’t be considering my future. I love playing for Wolves at the moment.

“My aim is to go up to the Premier League but if we don’t, we don’t, it’s one of those things.

“We will keep trying. I’m contracted until 2012 and I love it here at the moment.

“Wolves are my first club and I’m still learning, so it would be fantastic to be a Premier keeper here.

“The club and the fans have been fantastic to me and I just want to keep going and playing my games.”

Hennessey remains convinced Wolves have the character and spirit to win promotion this season.

“There are some great players here – we’ve definitely got the talent to go up to the Premier League,” he said. “The lads have definitely got the spirit – we’ve got some great lads in the dressing room.”
