Otis Ferry is charged over attacks

Tuesday 15th April 2008, 11:39AM BST.

Otis FerryShropshire-based pro-hunt campaigner Otis Ferry has been charged with attacking and robbing two female anti-fox hunt monitors.

Mr Ferry, 25, of Eaton Mascott, near Shrewsbury,  the joint master of the South Shropshire Hunt and the son of Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry, allegedly wrestled a video camera from them after he spotted the pair filming him.

It has been reported that another man is said to have broken a window of the women’s car and hit one with a radio antenna he snapped off the roof.

The pair then apparently rode off on their horses as police were called. It has been reported that the women, who had been watching for illegal fox hunting had to be treated for shock and bruising.

It was reported that officers arrested Mr Ferry at his home the next day. He had allegedly been riding with the Heythrop Hunt in Chipping Norton, in November when the assault was said to have happened.

Today Chris Jackson, a Gloucestershire Police spokesman, said: “I can confirm that a 25-year-old man from Shrewsbury has been charged with robbery and assault.

“He will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on May 7. The incident happened at Lower Swell in November last year.”

Mr Ferry could not be contacted for comment today.

It is not Mr Ferry’s first brush with the law. Last month, he was cleared of criminal damage after snatching the car keys of two paparazzi pursuing actress Sienna Miller.
