Although it was another game without a win, with the help of other results going our way, the point gained from the 1-1 draw with Morecambe moves Town closer to safety, writes our Shrews blogger James Pugh.

We still have a lot of work to do, but we must be grateful that other teams around us have been unable to pick up points. If they had have done we would be much worse off than we are now.

We saw the team’s fighting spirit return, but yet again we conceded a poor goal and only got going well into the second half. Why can’t we perform for 90 minutes, or even an hour? I guess if we could we would be at the other end of the table.

Simpson rang the changes for the game, like he promised after Saturday’s game. Some he was forced into making, while others were brave decisions such as dropping Glyn Garner. Overall the players that came in did a decent job and we fully merited the point.

It was the first time fans had the chance to have a look at Scott Bevan in the first team and although he struggled with his kicking on a difficult surface, he made some good saves and justified his starting place.

Gary Peters raved about the signing of Garner when he bought him and said he is the best keeper in League Two. Well from what I have seen he certainly isn’t the best and has been lucky to keep his place up to now.

Whether it’s been due to the back four in front of him being changed around a lot this season or a lack of confidence I am not sure, but for me he needed to be dropped a long time ago.

A special mention must go to David Hibbert who is only a young lad and many fans hadn’t heard of him when Peters signed him. He is our top scorer, has played upfront on his own and with different striker partners over the season, always works hard, and was excellent again against Morecambe. Well done Peters!

With only four games to play now come, every one of them is going to be like a cup final, especially considering two of them are against two local rivals and the another against a team who need to win their remaining games more than the Town.

Starting with Sunday, its win or bust for Wrexham, and this takes me back to about this time last season when they beat us at the Gay Meadow which helped towards their safety. Surely it can’t happen again!
