New homes rising from rubble
Tuesday 1st April 2008, 11:39AM BST.
It’s April 1, so naturally we shall play a dirty trick on you in this spot. And that dirty trick is to publish a photo of inferior quality – which isn’t very funny, but we think you’ll find it interesting.
The image is inferior because it is copied directly from the Shrewsbury Chronicle of March 15, 1935.
It shows house building at RAF Harlescott.
The original caption was: “This Chronicle picture shows the change that is taking place at the old Harlescott camp.
“On the right a new house is seen rising from among the ruins of a demolished RAF hut. 300 houses are being built.”

I have a photo of my father whos was stationed at RAF Harlescott taken outside what used to be the Lilywhite Laundry on the Whitchurch Road. I am trying to find out the year, I think it was in the early ’20s
