Thieves steal pedigree dogs from kennels

Thursday 27th March 2008, 1:00PM GMT.

Four valuable pedigree springer spaniels have been stolen from kennels in south Shropshire, police said today.

It is believed the thieves backed a vehicle up to the shed kennels at premises in Woolston, near Church Stretton, wrenched open the door, and took the four eight-month-old spaniels.

They were stolen between 9.30pm on Tuesday and 6am yesterday.

Police today appealed for information about the theft. A spokesman said: “If anyone spotted anything connected to this crime or is offered springer spaniels for sale in suspicious circumstances, I would urge them to please contact Ludlow Police Station on 08457 444888. Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number on 0800 555111.”

The stolen dogs have distinctive markings. One bitch is all white with a liver head and the second bitch is also white with a half-white and half-liver head.

One dog is mainly white with some liver colouring and the other has a liver head with a white stripe. All four have docked tails, but are not short.

The spaniels are all valuable trial dogs bred from past champions, police said.
