Wellington Amateurs look to have secured a second successive promotion.
Saturday’s 5-2 victory at Bustleholme Reserves guaranteed Mike Armstrong’s side a top two position in the second division of the West Midlands League.
Although nothing has been confirmed, league officials expect at least two clubs to be promoted from that division.
And that would mean last year’s County Premier League champions will be playing division one football next season – as long as their School Grove ground passes a forthcoming inspection.
“We assumed after Saturday’s game that we had won promotion,” said spokesman Dave Gregory.
Victory in their last three games would assure Wellington of the title.
