Is this our new boss?
Wednesday 12th March 2008, 6:48AM GMT.
If we believe the rumours flying around Oteley Road then the appointment of Paul Simpson is imminent, our Shrews Blogger James Pugh wrote after last night’s 0-0 draw with Darlington.
Speaking after last night’s draw John McMahon said he knew whether he would be in charge of the team on Saturday and said it was unlikely.
This together with Paul Simpson being at the game last night would suggest that the Chairman has made his decision.
However, other reports from fans said they saw the chairman and managing director show Micky Adams around the stadium yesterday, so watch this space!
The sooner the appointment is made the better as it will give the new manager more time to work with the players before Saturday.
As it looks more and more likely that Mr McMahon isn’t going to be given the job full-time I want to thank him for the job he has done over the past week. It is never easy taking over a side temporary and we have had to play two very difficult games.
I think fans would have taken the two points especially considering the form we were in under Mr Peters.
Are any fans missing Mr Peters? I must admit I’m not.
Town fought very hard last night and we needed a bit more quality in front of goal to grab the three points. Atrocious conditions and a picky ref also didn’t help.
Considering Darlington are third I thought we made them look very average and it was nice to get a rare clean sheet.
In terms of performances I thought Ben Herd was the best player on the park.
On a negative note I have serious doubts over Chris Humphreys and in the time he has been at the club he hasn’t shown any improvement.
However he is only young and perhaps the new manager will get the best out of him and our other youngsters as well.
