A welcome return home for the Olympic Torch

Delwyn departs Shawbury
Monday 10th March 2008, 7:40AM GMT.
Delwyn Humphreys has resigned as Shawbury United manager after just 15 months in charge.
Humphreys informed his squad of the decision following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to bottom of the table Bustleholme.
The news comes as something of a surprise after a successful season for the Wem team who reached the last 32 of the FA Vase, the semi-finals of the Shropshire Challenge Cup and still have a chance of a top two finish in the West Midlands League.
But Humphreys, who was in his second spell at the club, revealed he had been considering the decision for a month.
“Off the field I have got a new job with a plastering company and I’m working away from home during the week,” said Humphreys, who admitted he wouldn’t consider a return to football until next season.
“On the field I’ve been a bit annoyed with some of the lads’ attitude.
“Some of them haven’t been coming to training and we have had to chop and change the team because people couldn’t commit.
“I can’t do a job like that so I thought it was the best time to get out.”
Ben Coates, who has been assisting Humphreys, and long-serving player Steve Giles will take temporary charge.
