Litterbugs blighting our roads
Thursday 6th March 2008, 12:00AM GMT.
Is it just me or has there been a general increase in litter in our county?
You can’t travel more than a few metres down our main roads without seeing an abundance of litter along the roadside, particularly the A5.
Our rural roads are now becoming just as badly decorated with litter, primarily plastic pop bottles and food containers discarded from passing traffic.
This time of the year exposes the mess until spring arrives and growth in the hedgerows attempts to cover it up.
We can all play our part by keeping the area around our houses and villages tidy.
The councils also have a part to play. If they supplied realistically-sized bins and skips with lids at lay-bys and emptied them on a regular basis, I am sure the amount of litter strewn along our roadsides would reduce.
