Burway Books has been shortlisted for the Aurum Press Independent Bookshop of the Year.

The store is included in a regional shortlist for the award.

Owner Rosalind Ephraim, who launched the store 34 years ago, said she was delighted.

She said: “I think it’s recognition of what we do, because we work hard for customers’ satisfaction.

“We offer a level of expertise and customer service that people can’t get elsewhere.”

Mrs Ephraim said: “We have customers who buy a book from us then review it on Amazon.

“We offer discounts for regulars and we’ll go to the ends of the earth to get good books.”

Winners of the four regional awards, set to be announced next month, will go on to the national final in May.
