Teesdale to be loan ranger
Tuesday 26th February 2008, 11:43AM GMT.
AFC Telford United defender Richard Teesdale is being made available for a loan in a bid to get him fit for the Blue Square North run-in.The 24-year-old is due to make his comeback from a calf injury in the reserve team clash with Bromsgrove Rovers at the New Bucks Head tonight
Telford boss Rob Smith hopes to then have a club lined up for him to link up with for a month in time for this weekend.
“As long as he gets through tonight we’ll be looking to get him out on loan from Saturday,” he confirmed.
“It’s just a decision on where. There’s plenty of clubs interested and it will be down to him to decide which one he wants to go to.”
Teesdale will play 45 minutes tonight, and the reserve side is set to include two further first team squad members, with Lee Vaughan and Asa Charlton both pencilled in to play.
Vaughan is getting a run-out to get him back in the swing of things after serving a two-match ban for accumulating 10 bookings. The former Walsall man returns to the fold for the visit of Hinckley on Saturday.
Charlton has been a fixture in the side for much of this season, playing at either left wing-back or on the left of the three central defenders.
But he has had to settle for a place on the bench in the last two outings, and Smith is keen to make sure he retains his match fitness.
“Asa’s been good all year and it’s been tough to leave him out,” he added.
“But there’s going to be more tough decisions to make between now and the end of the season, and we welcome that.”
Entry tonight is free to season ticket holders, or otherwise is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
