Biomass plan ‘still on track’

Wednesday 20th February 2008, 11:42AM GMT.

The entrepreneur behind plans for a multi-million pound biomass burning power station in Tenbury Wells today scotched claims that the scheme had been abandoned.

Residents in Tenbury Wells thought plans for a new power station had been scrapped because the application has been put on ice.

But today Chris Day, the Oxfordshire-based energy expert behind the plans, said the scheme was still very much on track.

He said the application was merely on hold because important legislation was passing through Parliament.

Mr Day said: “The Tenbury application is on hold for another few weeks.

“We need to note the outcomes of the Energy Bill in April and its fundamental importance to us on these projects.”

Mr Day’s company, CJ Day Associates, Environmental Technology, is behind plans for the Tenbury Wells power station and a similar plant in Bishop’s Castle.
