Potato of love will aid charity
Friday 15th February 2008, 11:28AM GMT.
A heart-shaped potato discovered by a Shropshire couple is going up for grabs in a bid to raise funds for charity.
The unusually-shaped vegetable was found by Wellington couple Carol and Robert Powell.
Mrs Powell came across the potato when she was making dinner and the couple say the vegetable, which is the exact shape of a heart, has amazed friends and colleagues.
Mr Powell suggested the potato could be given to a county charity as part of a fun Valentine’s Day auction to raise much-needed cash.
The Macmillan Cancer Support Shropshire charity has taken up the offer and is now inviting bids.
Anne-Marie Davies, for the charity, said: “The person who gives the highest bid will be presented with the potato.
“People can give us a call at the Shropshire fundraisers office on (01743) 452080.
“People need to ring before the close of play on Monday.”

Bring back the days of comedy shaped vegetables. Some of them very rude and dont forget carrots that look like a pair of legs.
Supermarkets will not sell these items anymore, how boring.
Lets start a campaign for funny fruit and veg.
