Severn Valley Railway

 Steam engines returned to a Shropshire heritage railway today for the first time since last summer’s devastating floods destroyed large sections of the track.

    I was on the 10.30 departure to support the return of steam train services from Bridgnorth. Having been on earlier opening day specials for trains to Highley, Bewdley & Kidderminster I had to make the effort to mark the reopening to Hampton Loade after the disastrous flood damage. A great occasion suitably marked by those on board.

    Steam never stopped at Bridgnorth, it just couldn’t go very far.

    Everyone should visit both the SVR and Bridgnorth, which has been so quiet this last 8 months
