Battling with the bands

bands2.jpgMuch of my time over the last few weeks has been taken up by our Battle of the Bands contest, writes Video Blogger James Shaw.

Basically, we are offering loads of prizes to the best band in Shropshire at a finals night at the end of March.

Sounds simple – until you try and factor in working with the newspaper, radio and online parts of our empire.

Thankfully, I’ve had some great support in getting it up and running and so far, we have had some great entries.

But if you want to send something in, then post it to me: James Shaw, Shropshire Star, Ketley, Telford, TF1 5HU (Closing date March 9, 2008).

Anyway, the bands contest has got me thinking about that heydey of the music world – the early 1990s.

The 1980s were just behind us and achy-breaky heart was just coming to the fore.

This is where thre internet, in my opinion, really comes into its own – there are various places where you can watch videos from years past and re-live those memories of school parties that you weren’t invited to.

So, to celebrate those days, I’ve dug out the following for you all to take a look at – just remember to buy the full album once you’ve watched the video!

Some are better than othersl.

There are stacks more I could put up, but I have work to do, so you’ll have to make do with those. But make sure you post your favourite links and we can all have a good time . . .
