Funeral for hero Jimmy

Hundreds of people from across the world were descending on Ludlow today for the funeral of Shropshire’s Great Escape hero.

The funeral of Jimmy James, who was 92, was due to take place at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at 2pm. RAF Tornados were due to fly overhead after the service.

Mr James was immortalised in the Steve McQueen movie The Great Escape after he tunnelled his way to freedom during World War II.
