Have you ever dreamed of flying to the other side of the world to visit a distant relative, meet up with a long-lost friend, or simply spoil yourself on the holiday of a lifetime?

Time is now running out to make that dream come true in the Shropshire Star’s special competition, which could see you jetting off to a choice of destinations.
We’ve teamed up with Birmingham International Airport, its partner airlines and tour operators to launch our Take Off on a Dream Come True competition.
It’s your chance to turn that once-in-a-lifetime dream into an amazing reality.
Our lucky winner will get their pick of the Birmingham departure board – a chance to choose where they would like to jet off to, anywhere in the world, on a package for two people which is worth up to £5,000.
Such a special trip deserves a special winner.
So we want you to tell us why you – or perhaps a friend or relative – deserve this amazing opportunity.
But the closing date is tomorrow, so you’ll have to be quick with your entry.
Dozens of people have already staked their claim for the top prize, such as Shirley Bonsall, from Welshpool, who sent us a letter explaining why she would love to meet up with her cousins in New Zealand. Fifty years ago her mother’s brother emigrated to New Zealand where he married a local girl and had three daughters.
“My mother and my father had a wonderful holiday in New Zealand shortly before her death in 1991,” said Shirley, adding that her mother had made her promise that she would go herself one day and keep up the family connections.
Unfortunately Shirley’s uncle and aunt have since passed away but she keeps in touch with her cousins Ginny, Kate and Rebecca by letter and e-mail and would love to meet them one day.
Tessa Tyson’s dearest wish is to go to Australia to surprise her grandchildren.
“I dream of being able to visit my grandchildren in Sydney, unannounced and see their faces,” she said in her competition entry.
Your stories will be judged by representatives from the Shropshire Star and Birmingham International Airport, who will award top prize to the nominee who, in their opinion, most deserves to see their dream come true.
