Shrewsbury Town scored two away goals but were always chasing the game as Bradford put four past them.
The Shrews were behind as early as the seventh minute with a goal from Kyle Nix and were 2-0 down at half time after Omar Daley netted.
Dave Hibbert pulled one back early in the second half, but Bradford extended their lead with a Peter Thorne goal on 57 minutes.
Marc Pugh grabbed a second Shrews goal on 65 minutes but the hosts’ victory was sealed with a Barry Conlon penalty after Darran Kempson fouled David Wetherall.
