Husbands signing put on ice
Saturday 26th January 2008, 2:00PM GMT.
Striker Michael Husbands will not be pulling on an AFC Telford United shirt for at least another two weeks – whether he is released by Macclesfield or not.
The 24-year-old, who has spent two months on loan at Telford from the Silkmen, is currently receiving treatment for a knee ligament injury.
And specialists at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall have warned him he will need at least another two weeks to get back on the pitch.
Husbands is in the process of negotiating his release from the Silkmen and has made public his desire to stay with the Bucks.
His enthusiasm has even seen him turning down overtures from clubs a league above Telford in the Blue Square Premier.
“I spoke to Michael on Thursday night and he said he’ll be at Lilleshall all next week, and maybe for another week after that as well,” assistant manager Larry Chambers revealed.
“We’ve said that as soon as he is fit we will negotiate with him to sign him for the rest of the season.
“He’s been negotiating a pay-off to leave Macclesfield and I understand they’ve made him an offer but that’s not been accepted by him and his agent.
“It’s been a frustrating season for him because he’s been so injury-plagued, but we know what a good player he can be and would love to see him get a run in the side.”
