Body found on industrial park

Saturday 19th January 2008, 2:05PM GMT.

BodyA man’s body was found on a Telford industrial estate today. Police began an investigation after the discovery by a man going to work at Trench Lock shortly before 8am.

The man called police after finding the body in the courtyard parking area.

Trench Lock 2, leading off Sommerfield Road, was expected to be cordoned off for most of the day.

Telford & Wrekin coroner Michael Gwynne has been informed and was due to visit the site today. Police declined to comment further on the circumstances surrounding the death.

A number of units were affected by today’s closure.

Roger Dickin, who owns Romeo and Juliet’s sex shop in Trench Lock 2, arrived for work at 8.50am, but was stopped by police from going beyond the cordon and had to close for the day.

He said: “I was told by police there was a major incident and unfortunately there was no access to the area.”

Tracey Wainwright, customer service assistant at the nearby Trench Lock Service Station, arrived just before 6am. She said: “There was nothing going on at that time. I just saw one police car going around there with its lights flashing. Another one followed about five or 10 minutes later and another one came down.”

She said police had asked Chris Evans, the garage owner, for its CCTV tapes from last night until this morning.

Debbie Quiney, cashier at the nearby Texaco garage, said: “It’s terrible, I’m shocked.”
