Twickenham dream close
Monday 14th January 2008, 11:41AM GMT.
Newport Rugby Club are just two games from Twickenham after a stunning 21-20 victory over Stockport in the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup.
The Fishes won by the narrowest of margins in the fourth round at Forton Road on Saturday to book their place in the quarter-finals.
Two more wins would see them emulate the achievement of Cleobury Mortimer, who reached the final of the Junior Vase at rugby HQ in 2006.
“We’ve never been this far before,” said director of rugby Ray Price. We’re hoping for a home tie now, because there’s some good teams left in it and we want any advantage we can get.”
