Postcard view floods in

Ashdale, Ryton - 1933

It’s strange to modern eyes what sort of things were used as postcard views in the past, but of course they were a principal communication medium in the days before everybody had telephones.

This is “Ashdale, Ryton”. Written on the back of this postcard is “Dorrington. 2.3.33″ – which dates it neatly for us to 1933. The message on the back says “flooded out but are much better”.

It was sent to Mrs C. Machin in Cantlop.
