Traffic first for stadium
Saturday 5th January 2008, 9:15AM GMT.
The first game at Shrewsbury Town’s new stadium without county council traffic controls was due to take place today after fears the cost was falling on tax payers.
The council has chosen not to put traffic cones in residential streets in areas surrounding the new stadium after it was revealed it costs £1,150 per game.
It will continue to temporarily close Oteley Road on match days for spectator safety, which costs £1,000.
Today’s fixture against Brentford is the first since the county council stopped implementing restrictions.
