A bus driver has denied causing the death of a Market Drayton woman.

Ismail Ahmed, 42, from Southall, west London, is accused of causing the death by dangerous driving of Elizabeth Panton, 65, the mother of South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon’s wife.

She was struck by the bus near a stop in Richmond, south-west London, on April 25 this year.

At Kingston Crown Court yesterday, Ahmed also denied two charges of grievous bodily harm on a woman and a child. Judge Richard Southwell set a provisional trial date of May 12, 2008.
