The bodies of two men were found today at a property in a north Shropshire village.
A police investigation has been launched after the discovery of the bodies in Shawbury.
Part of a parade of shops and a car park in Drayton Road were cordoned off. About a dozen police and forensic scene of crime officers were dispatched to the scene at about 10am.
The investigation is believed to be focused on Shawbury Fish Bar, which was closed today.
Richard Ewels, West Mercia Police spokesman, said: “The bodies of two men were found at an address in Drayton Road, Shawbury, shortly before 10am today.
“At this stage, police are treating the deaths as unexplained and are in the process of establishing their identities.
“The coroner for mid and north Shropshire Mr John Ellery has been informed and a post mortem will be held in due course to establish the cause of death.”
A forensic crime officer in a white suit was seen filming inside and at the back of the fish bar.
Alan Houlihan, landlord of the nearby Elephant and Castle pub, said he saw a woman, who runs the fish bar, being taken away in a police car at about 10am.
Mrs Christine Hartley, who works at the pub, said: “It is a shame if it is one of the lads from the shop because they are ever so nice.”
She added: “It’s terrible that something like this should happen to them, especially in a small village like this.”
Mrs Hartley said of the woman who left the fish and chip bar: “She looked shocked and very pale.”
