McCarthy focused on Wolves

mccarthygene-s.jpgWolves boss Mick McCarthy today drew a line under this week’s South Korean job episode and insisted, “It’s time to move on.”

The Molineux boss was facing the media for the first time since news of the approach from the South Korean FA to take over their national team shook Wolves to the core earlier this week.

And McCarthy was eager to put the episode behind him as he focused on tomorrow’s Molineux clash against Burnley which sees his Wolves side eager to bounce back after their Barnsley nightmare on Tuesday.

The manager’s future was cemented after nearly four hours of talks with chairman Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey on a worrying Wednesday for Wolves fans who have taken the 48-year-old Yorkshire man to their hearts following the club’s impressive progress in the last 18 months.

McCarthy reaffirmed his commitment today by declaring: “My position is as has been declared in the statements from the club – I was very flattered to be considered, I don’t deny that, but my commitment is to Wolves.

“If it wasn’t I wouldn’t be sat here now. The fact is that I love this job, I feel a sense of loyalty to the players, the supporters and the people I work for and the area that I live in. They have all been hugely supportive and all of these things matter to me.

“And we are doing well – although I told the players yesterday that after the way we played on Tuesday, how I was still there on Thursday I don’t know!”
